It's Winter, which means loads of cozy nights inside! If you are in need of some hot reads for your cold nights, we got you covered.

If you liked American Horror Story, Law & Order SVU, or Murder on the Orient Express, you will love:

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell

A missing girl, a buried secret, and a number one bestseller? This is a page-turner that I finished in about two sittings. Yes, it’s that good. Jewell shifts the narrator role through the potentially dubious perspectives of multiple characters which immediately hooks you into this twisted novel. This emotional crime drama will have you playing True Detective to uncover what really happened to Ellie Mack. However, I advise you to proceed with caution, because the truth can be horrifying.

If you liked I am Malala or The Glass Castle, you will love:

Becoming by Michelle Obama

A memoir written by our former First Lady, Becoming is a deeply personal reflection of Michelle Obama’s existence. This is an enlightened, real, autobiography that exceeds all expectations for historical non-fiction. Written in three parts with each section focusing on an important phase of her life, Obama’s tale inspires her readers to share their stories and to make their voices heard. Her vision gives a refreshing take on political matters that is both pragmatic and optimistic.

If you liked Beasts of the Southern Wild or The Help you will love:

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This coming-of-age story will leave you wanting more. Owens brings the reader into the world of Kya, a girl who has lived alone in the marshes of North Carolina. Having always fended for herself, Kya’s world is forever changed when she meets two men who teach her about love, heartbreak, and secrets. Let Where the Crawdads Sing take you somewhere warm to tug at your heartstrings.

Step Up Surprise-Reese Witherspoon liked this book so much that there is a movie in the works, stay ahead of the curve!

If you liked No Strings Attached or 13 Going On 30, you will love:

Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith

Ah, yes. The classic “falling in love with your best friend" dilemma. We all love it. Smith delights us with the familiar spark of young love with all the realities of growing up. Alice has a crush on her best friend, Teddy. Alice buys Teddy a lottery ticket for his 18th birthday. Teddy wins 140 million dollars. Smith’s tone will have you reflecting on how much you value material things. What would sudden, instant wealth feel like? Would it change your relationships with the people you love most?

If you liked Milk & Honey or romantic poetry in general, you will love:

The Road Between by Courtney Peppernell

Sometimes less is more. When school, work, and life in general make settling down with a novel difficult, I recommend poetry. Peppernell’s latest poetry book will give you broaden your horizons beyond the fog of your everyday woes. Reaching into the depths of her soul, these poems illuminate losing yourself to the world and then finding it all over again. “It was late at night. And bedtime had come too soon, but the little girl seemed curious. Please leave the curtains open. She said, I need to see the moon." This particular selection is a favorite of mine, it reminds me of  how small we are in a grand universe. I’m certain you will be entranced by a poem in The Road Between.
