Where to get a cup of coffee: Haymarket Cafe 185 Main St.

This eclectic coffeeshop is always crowded with students from the local 5 college consortium and local artists. They serve food and sandwiches as well.

Where to get lunch: Woodstar Cafe 60 Masonic St.

Woodstar Cafe is another coffee shop, but they're known for their great pastries and sandwiches.

Where to eat dinner: Viva Fresh Pasta 249 Main St.

This casual restaurant features homemade pasta and sauce at a reasonable price.

What to see in town: The Botanic Garden at Smith College College Lane, on the Smith College campus.

These gorgeous gardens are a must-see for anyone visiting Northampton or Smith College.

What to see in the area: If you're up for a drive, don't miss the one-of-a-kind coffeeshop/bookstore/bar/cafe The Montague Book Mill, a scenic 30 minute drive from Northampton in Montague. The motto "Books you don't need in a place you can't find" doesn't give enough credit to the charm and beauty of this cozy little place built over a waterfall.
