Recently, I downloaded a variety of apps from different news outlets and allowed each to send me push notifications. In retrospect, this was not a wise decision. While some may wake up to good morning texts, I wake up to the latest news of violence and deception. It’s made it hard to see the good in the world. My solution? Volunteer. Here a few sites that will connect you to different volunteer opportunities that will allow you to see the good in the world.
Do Something
Do Something is a volunteer matching service that allows you to choose a cause, how much time you want to dedicate, and the type of activity you would like to do. It’s great for people who are looking for a variety of volunteering opportunities that are related to a specific cause. The site does require you to create an account to sign up for the opportunities offered.
Volunteer Match
Volunteer Match is another volunteer matching service that allows you to create a profile including individual skills, causes, and your resume. Unlike Do Something, Volunteer Match shows you a wide variety of volunteer opportunities rather than specific ones that match a specific cause. This site does require some extra effort when creating your profile, especially when listing your skill set.
Help from Home
Help from Home is a matching service that matches you with volunteer opportunities that will not require you to leave your couch. While it is a U.K. based site, anyone can participate.
