One would assume that if a woman was experiencing pregnancy that she would have all power of what happens with her body and child, but that’s just not the case.

Sorry. The fact of the matter is that the men in congress seem to think that they should have say in what a woman does with her baby and her body, even though they’ve never experienced or felt what it’s like to be a woman. For one, the experiences are incredibly different, due to a plethora of factors, so to even begin to create legislature pertaining to women and reproductivity is absurd especially if there are no women on the board. How can you create a law pertaining to something that you know little to nothing about?

In this year alone we’ve seen bills, and laws passed that directly affect agencies such as Planned Parenthood, all in the name of abortion, but we must realize that that’s not the sole purpose of Planned Parenthood. We say to our children “Practice safe sex! Use condoms, birth control, etc." and then we attack the agency that gives it to them, which is counter-productive. And let’s not pretend like reproductivity doesn’t affect the workplace either, but that’s a different article for a different day. For us to introduce change into the government we must be in the government. We must be more present, and persistent, and make more noise because the only way to incite change is speak up and say “this is wrong, here’s a better way to do this."
