We’re all running around pulling our hair out because of what? FINALS. Every semester we have to deal with those last couple of months where everything seems to pile up by the day. Even though we all know it comes at some point, we’re never really prepared for when it actually does. Hopefully you have measures in place to help you manage all of the projects, papers, presentations, and exams coming your way. There are a ton of things for you to do to help manage everything, but what tends to keep most students motivated while studying is a good playlist. Music is great in that there is always a song for every mood you’re in. Even if you’re trying to get out of a mood — there’s a song for that! Check out these songs to add to your official playlist for finals.
Stress is definitely a constant emotion that drives us during finals so finding a song to calm your nerves helps bring you back down to earth. “Redbone” by Childish Gambino is a mellow song with psychedelic undertones. Listen to this right before you dive into your work to soothe those nerves.
To keep the soothing vibes going, up next is “CPR” by Summer Walker. This song is what many people would say R&B has been looking for. Summer’s vocals are light and airy as she sings about finding a life-saving love. As you listen you’ll appreciate the jazz-like tone that’ll have you feeling smooth.
Also by Summer Walker is “Girls Need Love.” A song that many probably relate to, it keeps the smoothness going. You’ll grow to love the message and definitely end up singing along. Envision a cool summer night as you listen because that’s what this song feels like.
“Gonna Love Me” by Teyana Taylor takes us back to that authentic R&B sound we all grew up listening to. Teyana really unleashes her vocals in this ballad and they’re nothing short of amazing. You’ll get all the feels while listening.
Once you’re nice and mellow “Middle Child” by J. Cole gets you into a more upbeat mood. It’s a great song to fuel the start to a productive session of studying. The song itself is not too rowdy but it’s rugged enough to have you feeling good about starting that paper.
“PettyWap” by Young MA moves things along with its simple beat that you can bob your head along to.
Next, “Champion” by NAV gets you feeling like a champion. It’s uplifting beat motivates you and easy lyrics won’t bog you down.
“Smile (Living My Best Life)” by Lil Duval, Snoop Dogg, and Ball Greezy is a great feel good tune that makes you feel like you’re indeed living your best life as you tackle your assignments.
Push through your writer’s block as you listen to “Push It” by O.T. Genasis.
End off your study session with a nice pick me up. “Nice For What” by Drake is an anthem for everyone who works hard each and every day. This song has you wanting to get loose and celebrate your accomplishments.
Put on some music in the background the next time you sit down to study while keeping these songs in mind. Find songs that motivate you and get you amped up, but also throw in some mellow tracks to even out the mood. Good luck studying!
