From Greek life to the sweet life: did you know that some of the most recognized celebrities and athletes were members of Greek life in college? Let’s take a look at ten of these famous individuals.

1. Brad Pitt

In 1986, Pitt became a member of the Xi Xi chapter of the fraternity Sigma Chi at University of Missouri. During this time, he served on the Homecoming Steering Committee and acted in a number of fraternity shows.

2. Matthew McConaughey

This film star is a brother of the Gamma Iota chapter of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at University of Texas at Austin. He joined the fraternity in 1992.

3. Carrie Underwood

The award-winning country music star is an alumna of the Alpha Iota chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma at Northeastern State University, where she graduated from in 2006. During this time, Underwood participated in many university beauty pageants and was runner-up for Miss NSU in 2004.

4. Jennifer Garner

Garner is a member of the Ohio Eta chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Denison University, where she graduated from in 1994.

5. Michael Jordan

This basketball star is an alumnus of the Psi Delta chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity at University of North Carolina. A member of the Tar Heels’ national championship team in 1982, Jordan left the university in 1984, one year before his scheduled graduation, to enter the NBA draft.

6. Will Ferrell

Ferrell joined the Delta Pi chapter of Delta Tau Delta at University of Southern California, which he graduated from in 1990. As one might guess, he was known for pulling off pranks and stunts on campus with his fraternity brothers.

7. Eli Manning

The NFL quarterback is a brother of the Epsilon Xi chapter of Sigma Nu at University of Mississippi, where he enrolled in 2000. Manning earned the Sigma Nu Athlete of the Year award in both 2001 and 2003.

8. Ashley Judd

This famous actress joined the Beta Chi chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Kentucky in 1986. Judd graduated from the Honors Program and was nominated to the honor society Phi Beta Kappa.

9. Katie Couric

After enrolling at the University of Virginia in 1975, Couric joined the Beta Sigma chapter of Delta Delta Delta. During this time, she held numerous positions at the university’s award-winning campus newspaper.

10. Sheryl Crow

The talented musician is a sister of the Alpha Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at University of Missouri, where she graduated from in 1984. But, that’s not all. Crow also became a member of the Iota Lambda chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, which is a female international music fraternity. Additionally, she was inducted into the national honor society Omicron Delta Kappa in 1983.
