Meet Elizabeth Warren, a mother of two, wife of Jim Warren, and one of our Democratic candidates for the 2020 Presidential Election. Currently, she is serving as the senior United States Senator of Massachusetts serving the state since 2013. Prior to being Senator, Warren worked as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, among several other roles.

Warren attended the University of Houston and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 1970. Later, she attended Rutgers School of Law at Rutgers University - Newark campus and received her Juris Doctorate in 1976. Post Law School, Warren practiced law out her of living room before she returned to teaching. She has taught at six Universities for more than 30 years. She has taught at Rutgers University, the University of Houston, UT Austin, UPenn, and Harvard. She became for one of the nation’s top experts on financial pressures facing middle class families. Warren taught classes on commercial law, contracts, and bankruptcy along with conducting groundbreaking research on the connection between health care costs and personal bankruptcy. She served as the Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel which provided oversight of TARP, the Wall Street bailout. Warren was also credited for the original thought, courage (politically), and persistence that lead to the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

On Saturday February 9, Senator Elizabeth Warren announced her presidential bid for the 2020 Election calling for a “fundamental change" as she fights for working people and argues that President Trump is “just the latest and most extreme symptom of what’s wrong in America."

Here are some of the issues that Warren plans to do if she wins the presidency. She will end Washington’s corruption, rebuild the middle class, strengthen our democracy, create equal justice under the law, and a foreign policy for all. Warren sees that Washington works great for the wealthy and well-connected but not for everyone else. The wealthy use their money to control Congress and federal agencies but that will all come a halt with Elizabeth Warren. With her proposed set of anti-corruption laws, she will change the way Washington does business. When it comes to the middle class, Warren wants to put the power back into the hands of workers and unions. This also means transforming large American companies by letting their workers elect 40% of the company’s board members creating a new era of strong antitrust enforcement to end stifling of competition, depression of wages, and drive up the costs of everything.

Included will be an Ultra-Millionaire Tax of America’s 75,000 richest families to produce trillions that can be used to build an economy that works for everyone, including universal childcare, student debt relief and down payments on a Green New Deal and Medicare. Warren wants to create a stronger democracy to prevent interference from outside countries, overturn voter suppression, and end the influence of big money on elections. She is promoting ACTUAL equal justice under law. That everyone, especially major corporations and their leaders, is held accountable for their crimes and true justice is served which includes sentencing reform and rewriting laws on marijuana. In dealing with foreign policy, Warren wants to decrease the defense budget to fund into leveraging all the tools of our national power. She wants to start by strengthening the country at home to strengthen us in the world view.
