In honor of Halloween this week, we've compiled a list of the top 5 most haunted college campuses! Did your school make the cut?

Ohio University

Wilson Hall is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the US. It sits in the center of a pentagram formed by five cemeteries that surround the campus.

A female student practicing satanic rituals died in a room on the fourth floor. No one could live peacefully in the room, so school officials were forced to seal it off.

In Washington Hall, its rumored you can see a female basketball team that died on the way to a game in a bus crash. Or if you wander into Jefferson Hall, you can find an elementary teacher walking around dressed in 1950s clothing.

Gettysburg College

Gettysburg sits next to the site of the famous Civil War battle, and the campus is said to be haunted by the spirits of past soldiers. During the Civil War, the basement of Pennsylvania Hall was used as an operating room to treat wounded soldiers.

In 2003, a student (known only as "Jon") took an elevator in Penn Hall and "when it opened, there was a full working Civil War hospital in the basement, with, like, lights, people walking around working, soldiers." A similar incident was reported on the same site by two college administrators in the 1980s. Tourists—of which the town has many—often take "ghost tours" of the campus at night."It's really annoying sometimes," says one student.

Wells College

More than one room on the campus is haunted, according to Wells College legend. At one point, a campus-wide flu epidemic was bad enough that the fourth floor of the main building was used as an infirmary. Many of the students died, and with no place to store their bodies in winter, one of the rooms was turned into a temporary morgue.

The door was painted red to alert other students not to disturb their resting place. Even when the door was repainted, the red still seeped through. Nurses are still seen tending to invisible patients on the fourth floor. Other haunted buildings include Morgan Hall, where a security guard pushed students out of the building in a fire. He did not survive, but his presence can still be felt pushing students down the stairs.

Penn State University

If you're in The Pattee Library late at night, you may run into the ghost of Betsy Aardsma, a student in 1969. She was doing research when she was stabbed to death in one of the aisles. Her murder was never solved, and one student claims to have been woken to the sensation of being strangled after looking at books in the aisle where Betsy was killed.

Another spot on campus rumored to be haunted is Brumbaugh Hall where, on Halloween, the spirit of an ax murderer roams the halls.

Fordham University

Students have reported paranormal activity throughout the campus, however most paranormal activity occurs in Keating Hall, and Finaly Hall, which were built on top of a morgue. Residents living in Finaly Hall have been awoken with unseen hands grabbing their throats, and flickering lights. Across campus in Hughes Hall, locked doors can be seen swinging open, and the spirit of a young boy appears in rooms late at night.
