Dear Seniors,
I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now. As I’m sure you know, senior year is one of the best years of your college experience. It is also one of the most emotional. It’s always bittersweet ending the school year, but your senior year is different.
The memories you’ve made the last four years will always be with you, no matter what the circumstances. The friends you’ve made really will last you a lifetime. I know that leaving before you have to is making this transition a lot more difficult than it would’ve been in May, but you’re going to make it through this.
I know that this is not how you imagined your senior year going. You thought you’d spend the last few months making amazing memories to commemorate the last four years. What is happening now is something no one really saw coming (to this extent anyway). Just remember you still have your friends and you still have four years worth of memories to look back on.
Now I know most of you obviously still have to finish the semester online. This might seem like the most daunting task, but don’t let what has happened define your academic career. Take some time to check in with yourself and your friends, but finish out your last semester strong.
After this is all over, plan some gatherings with your friends and celebrate just like you would’ve at school. I know it won’t be the same, but it’s something positive to look forward to. But until then, please stay safe and be cautious. Wait to celebrate. I know this is going to be difficult, but don’t put yourself or others in jeopardy. You’ll be able to celebrate and see your friends again when this is all over, but for now please stay safe.
Try and stay in a routine while you’re at home. Stay positive and reach out to your peers. They will be able to understand more than anyone what you’re going through. Although distance may be separating you now, you’re now united under the same circumstances.
Everything is going to be okay and just because your time has been cut short, it doesn’t take away from those memories that you’ve made the past few years.
Stay safe and know that we are all hear to support you, even when this is all over.
Yours Truly,
Emma
