What is Arielle’s Pet Care? Well, it is a business that I started over a year ago. You see, I love animals. I love dogs, cats, rabbits as well so many others. When I was younger, I wanted to become a dog breeder when I grew up. And, instead of selling the dogs I would keep all of them! I do not think that sounds like the best idea now that I am in college, but it sure is unique.
With my business, I take care of animals when their owners away. I love it is so much. I refer to the animals as my clients and the people as their owners. The reason I started Arielle’s Pet Care was because I wanted to do something I really enjoy while also making money. My clients range from cats middle aged, to senior dogs, to puppies. I was even asked to watch a guinea pig. Unfortunately, I was not able to take care of the guinea pig because I have an amazing dog named Sandy, and I was not sure how Sandy would react to another small animal in the house.
I grew up with an incredible dog named, Sammy. Yes, you read that correctly Sammy was my childhood dog, and Sandy is my dog now. Similar in name as well as other aspects, but very different in characteristics. Sammy was a golden retriever who loved his family more than anything. He was such an incredible creature of nature. So sensitive, loving and playful too! Sammy loved to jump on the table and eat everyone’s food. And not only that, he would munch on napkins and paper as well. He even ate homework before. Sammy was my best friend. He was always there for me in good and sad times. I got him for my birthday when I was eight years old. He was the absolute best birthday present I could have ever asked for. Sammy was a big golden retriever. He weighed at his peak 112 pounds. However, that is when he was an overweight puppy. When his weight was normalized, he weighed about 75 pounds. I could go on and on about all the different stories and memories I have about Sammy-but we would be here for days! I would love to introduce you (in writing) to my lovely golden retriever that I now have named, Sandy.
Sandy is two years old. We got Sandy because my brother and I wanted a dog so badly. The house felt so empty without a canine present. We were used to having such enormous fun with Sammy, that when he passed, a major lull was manifested here. So, we told my aunt that we were looking for a golden retriever and for her to keep her eyes open. Within a couple of days, we get a call about puppies that are available in Rhode Island! We jumped on the opportunity and made the trip late at night. There were eleven puppies in the litter. They were all so beyond adorable. We decided that my dad would be the one making the decision on which puppy to adopt. And he chose the cutest little puppy in the entire litter! And that’s our Sandy.
Sandy weighs only about 55 pounds. She is super smart, sensitive and loves her family so much. She is very friendly-sometimes overly friendly with guests. She is a true character. Even though no one could ever come close to replacing Sammy because our bond was so strong, Sandy is a wonderful addition to our family. Similarly to Sammy, Sandy likes to jump on the table. However, since she is smaller, she is very agile. She gets herself in places where we do not how she can! "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened" -Anatole France.
