To be honest, I wasn’t born this way. I don’t remember anyone ever telling me how my little actions could change my life forever. I guess I figured it out the hard way.
I have always been responsible for my chores, assignments, and meetings, meaning that I have never needed anyone to tell me or remind me of the things I am supposed to do. Somehow, however, this just wasn’t working for me anymore. Always being on time and always doing the job right was a basic routine for me, but something changed in me 22 years later.
Being persistent means that you are working hard on something for a long time, and as a fashion student, I can assure you that you have to be persistent. There are so many skills you must constantly work on, not to be perfect, but to become better each day. This is a major life tip, whether you are on your way to becoming a fashion designer or a doctor.
Unfortunately, we weren’t born as perfect human beings with nothing to work on, but we were born capable of fixing our mistakes. Sometimes, we just have to work harder, and try it over and over again until we get it.
I also had to learn to stay on a consistent routine, and this was definitely harder than I thought. I would always get bored easily, so that was why I learned to keep a steady routine going. I learned that, even in a creative atmosphere, like the fashion industry, where our days always consist of a different schedule or task, we must develop some sort of routine to stay organized.
For me, that was working on excel (I know, worst nightmare); for whatever reason, I had to use it. At first, I kept forgetting about it. I ended up having reports to turn in, and it was so painful to do the job at the very last minute.
I started by setting times for myself to actually do this. For the first several days, I was forcing myself to do it for an hour (this was also due to my lack of excel skills, so it took me forever), and It was the worst hour of my day. Now, however, I’m persistent. I work hard to get better and faster and consistent, because I know I have to work on it everyday whether I like it or not.
Now I see it clearer. Those were the two things I wasn’t born with, and never thought of applying, but now they changed the game. Literally, they lead you to success.
