Debating whether or not to take the plunge and apply to graduate school?

Understandable. It's a big decision that will ultimately impact your career, your future and (of course) your wallet.

U.S. News and World Report recently published their list of 2014 Best Graduate Schools rankings, with the hopes that their in-depth research and analysis will provide prospective students with valuable information they need to make informed decisions about their future.

This list includes rankings for the following graduate school programs:

  • Business

  • Law

  • Medicine

  • Engineering

  • Education

  • Social sciences

  • Humanities

  • Library and information studies.

According to U.S. News, while the ranking methodologies varied by discipline, the overall grad school rankings were largely based off "admissions selectivity and expert opinions on program quality." For business and law school rankings, job-placement statistics were considered, and salary data played part in the lists' business school rankings.

We've broken down the top 5 highest ranked schools in each major category.
