Each year, The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) hosts an event to celebrate the best in fashion design. The CFDA Fashion Awards honor influential designers with categories such as Womenswear Designer of the Year and Menswear Designer of the Year. They also honor notable figures in the fashion world, with categories such as the Fashion Icon Award (Jennifer Lopez was this year’s honoree). This year’s awards ceremony was held on Monday, June 3rd at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. Since the awards honor achievements in fashion, attendees should make an extra effort to take risks and create memorable red carpet looks.

Here are the best dressed from the CFDA Fashion Awards.

Bella Hadid

Model Bella Hadid looked stunning in a backless black sequined gown from Michael Kors Collection. The feather embellishments and her diamond jewelry added a touch of drama, and she completed the look by slicking back her hair into a curly ponytail.

Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham, model, body-positive advocate, and host of American Beauty Star , brought Old Hollywood, Audrey Hepburn-style glamour with her Christian Siriano ensemble. The all-black outfit included exaggerated ruffled shoulders, gloves, and a hat to ensure she made a statement on the red carpet.

Kat Graham

Actress and singer Kat Graham looked chic in a black tulle Oscar de la Renta gown. She kept her styling pretty and simple for a sophisticated look that allowed her gown to take center stage, without overpowering her.

Riley Montana

Model Riley Montana looked gorgeous in her plunging white dress with a thigh-high slit. Although it may seem like a simple design for a fashion awards show red carpet, Montana’s effortless elegance made her understated and classic look stand out.

Amber Valletta

Model and actress Amber Valletta looked sleek and chic in her two-tone suit jacket and pants by Alexander McQueen. The top of her jacket offered a pop of color, while her studded clutch and chunky diamond necklace enhanced the ensemble by adding some sparkle.

Lily Aldridge

Model Lily Aldridge looked classy and refined in her custom red dress by Brandon Maxwell, who was honored as Womenswear Designer of the Year at the awards show. The minimal styling and bold color made Aldridge’s look timeless.

Bee Carrozzini

Bee Carrozzini, the daughter of Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, livened up the red carpet with her pretty, embroidered Alexander McQueen dress. The floral design was perfect for a summer awards show. What makes the look even better is the fact that it’s a recycled look for Carrozzini; she wore the dress to a friend’s wedding just a few days earlier.

Fei Fei Sun

Chinese supermodel Fei Fei Sun shined on the red carpet in her bright Zac Posen dress. Sun was radiant and elegant in the backless dress.

Honorable Mentions:

Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski avoided a plain suit and instead kicked off Pride Month with an ombré rainbow ensemble by Sies Marjan, and Hamish Bowles , a fashion journalist and Vogue editor-at-large, elevated a traditional suit with red fringe accents in Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton. On the other hand, fashion designer Tom Ford made a classic look stand out with his impeccably-tailored tuxedo.

There were more amazing looks from this year’s CFDAs, but these were some of the best. Hopefully the fashion from the event inspires more great red carpet designs.
