Every year, 1 in 5 college women faces sexual assault on or near her campus.
Student activists across the nation are seeking changes to university policies around sexual assault prevention and response. Last Friday, No Red Tape, an activist organization at Columbia University, organized a Speak Out that sought to address administrative policies around campus sexual assault. They were joined by Emma Sulkowicz, a senior who became a national symbol of the issue after she pledged to carry her mattress everywhere she goes until her alleged rapist is expelled from the school.
In the above podcast, students and activists express their feelings about the movement to create safer college campuses.
