Making the perfect drink is no easy feat. Plenty of us have experienced terrible concoctions that were poured with a heavy hand, and offer nothing but an even heavier hangover the next day. With St Patrick’s Day right around the corner, this is a great time to put your mixology skills to the test. Whether you’re hosting or attending a party, making your own signature drinks is fun. St Patrick’s Day offers plenty of chances to showcase your creativity. Or, if you’re not a heavy drinker who doesn’t want to miss out on the party, make your very own mocktails! Here are a few simple, fun recipes that are sure to do the trick.

St Patrick’s Day Spritzer

This first recipe can be a cocktail or a mocktail. All you need are a few easy ingredients such as sugar, mint, lime juice, basil leaves, and white rum. Combine one teaspoon of sugar, one teaspoon of water, and three leaves of mint and basil. Add some grated ginger, half a cup of lime juice, and one ounce of white rum. You can add club soda if you want to cut the taste, and voila! Don’t want the booze? Substitute the rum with club soda or ginger beer.

Shamrock Sour

The best part about this recipe is that it only has six ingredients! Take two ounces of Irish Whiskey and combine it with one fourth cup of simple syrup, two tablespoons of lime juice, and half a tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix it, add a little bit of green food coloring, and garnish with a lime wedge!

Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream

Now this recipe just sounds heavenly. It’s so transcendent that you can prepare it way ahead of party time! Take 1 ⅔ cups of Jameson Irish whiskey, then combine it with a cup of half-and-half cream, a can of condensed milk, two tablespoons of chocolate syrup, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and one teaspoon of instant coffee. Throw them in the blender, and refrigerate until you are ready to serve!

Luck of the Irish Shots

If you are hosting the party, these will surely be a favorite among your guests. Line up all of your shot glasses, and add half an ounce of Creme de Menthe at the bottom. Repeat the same measurement two more times with Creme de Coco and Irish Creme Liquor. Put them in the fridge for later, and top with whipped creme and mint chocolate during the main event

Lucky Shamrock Shooter

This recipe is bound to be another favorite among guests. Put two ounces of Creme de Menthe, four ounces of white Creme de Coco, and three ounces of french vanilla coffee cream in a shaker. Shake well, pour the concoction into shot glasses, and add whipped cream to enjoy!

For all you mocktail lovers, I found three easy recipes that are sure to taste amazing. A Pear and Thyme Spritzer (green as you want it to be, depending on how dark the pear is), The Lemon Basil Daquiri that only requires three ingredients, and a non-alcoholic Mint Julep. Find all three recipes here .

Have an amazing and safe St Patrick’s Day!
