Breakups are inevitable and sometimes, people feel more sad about it than others. They are emotional because you’re putting an end to a chapter in your life. For those of you who are going through a break up, it doesn’t have to be painful and you absolutely do not need to go through it alone. These tips below are great ways to feel better after a break up.
First and foremost, cry it out. Some people will tell you, “Don’t cry, it’s okay," but it’s recommended to be in touch with your feelings. If you need to cry, let it out. If you want to scream at the top of your lungs, then do so. Letting it out and feeling all of your emotions is one way to help you get it out of your system and to feel better.
In order to feel better, it’s best to not contact your ex-partner. In fact, delete their number so you are not tempted to contact them and while you are in the “grieving" stage; it’s important to accept that the break up happened and then delete any photos that you have of them. Sometimes, seeing their photos will be a reminder that you are no longer together and it can lead to more heartbreak. To prevent that, delete their photos, unfollow them on social media and delete their numbers. They don’t necessarily have to be blocked forever, just until you’re ready to face them and you are genuinely happy for them.
One of the best ways to feel better after a break up is to exercise. When you exercise, you’re distracting your mind from thinking about your ex-partner and you’re more focused on the workout you are currently doing. It’s a great way to get your mind off of things and you’ll feel accomplished after you finish a workout.
Sometimes, the best medicine is laughter. Surround yourself with people who love you and who care about how you’re doing. You can cry it out to them or you can set up a night to have a night out of dancing and eating. Whichever you choose to do, it is important to surround yourself with people who love and care about you. It’s a nice reminder to let you know that you are loved for the days you feel you aren’t important.
Usually after a break up, you have all this free time because you’re used to doing everything with your partner or you’re used to constantly seeing them. Use this time to either work on yourself or pick up a hobby. What is one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never made the time for? Use this time to finally do it. It’s a great way to develop a new skill and to keep your mind off of things.
When in doubt, treat yourself out. Typically, in a relationship, you’re always thinking about the other person, how they’re doing, what they’re doing, etc. Now, it is time to focus on YOU. Treat yourself out to a nice dinner, a shopping spree, a mani/pedi, anything that will make you feel good. Sometimes, it’s good to spoil yourself once in a while, so get that haircut you’ve always wanted or buy those shoes that are on your wishlist. You’ll feel better and it’s a great way to put a smile on yourself.
Breakups are hard but you will get through them. These are all tips to help you feel better after a break up. But the most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. You are loved and deserve to be loved. Breakups can be very emotional but once you get through them, you’ll look back and realize how much happier and stronger you are.
