What's the connection between the amount of money a country spends on education and the performance of its students? Not as much as we'd hope, unfortunately. While the U.S. spends the most money annually per school aged child, our children aren't coming out on top in performance compared to their international peers. Finland, on the other hand, spends 1/8 of the amount we do and comes out first in the world in terms of math and science education, as well as literacy rates.
