After the tragic events that took place in Las Vegas this past weekend the debate of gun control was, once again, in full force. Both sides of the debate are present on many different mediums. Questions have been raised how much more can happen before we talk about gun control and is it really the guns that are to blame, or the people?
Regardless which side you are on, you cannot deny the need for conversation and debate.
While there hasn’t been any talk about gun control from President Trump there is plenty of talk from public figures on both sides of the debate and throughout the political spectrum. Joy Villa, a member of the Trump Campaign Advisory Board, tweeted “#guncontrol exists. Evil #stephenpaddock had illegal weapons. Ask Chicago how they r doing w strict gun control laws? 2000 shootings /year!" This is just one of the main tweets that are in favor of keeping the Second Amendment the way it is. On the other side of that debate Téa Leoni tweeted, “Without gun laws, we’re all enlisted in a war where every single day we run the risk of walking into combat. End the war now. #GunControlNow.
Gun control is one of the many debates that are going on in our country right now. In times of tragedy it is important that we stand by one another and even if we disagree on our viewpoints, we need to come together.
