Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is challenging for many college students. It seems as though we are always on the run and too busy to get a routine down. It may seem difficult at first, but once you start putting in some effort, it will become second nature.

Make Time For A Workout

There’s no workout too big or too small. If you only have time to go for a short walk or run around the neighborhood, take advantage of it. Whether it’s early in the morning, mid-afternoon, or late at night, your body will be thanking you for getting up and being active. I’ve also found it helpful to go to classes at the gym. This way, you have a set time to go and they seem to be harder to back out of. It’s also helpful to have a workout buddy to hold you accountable!

Go to the Grocery Store

Planning a trip to the grocery store in your weekly routine will help cut down on the fast food stops during the week. The grocery store is a great place to start your healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy doesn’t have to cost a fortune either, as long as you shop smart. If you have a really busy week, try making your meals ahead of time during the weekend. Meal prep will keep you on track and it will give you one less thing to worry about after a long day.

Stay Organized

Staying organized can be difficult when we’re running around living our busy lives. Sit down at the beginning of the week and plan out all of your activities and assignments. This will allow you to prepare for what you have coming up, and it might even help you to work ahead. Once you write everything out, plan a routine for your week, and do your best to stick with it. Sure, things will pop up here and there that will throw you off your schedule, but that’s what makes life interesting; try not to stress about it!

Treat Yourself

Try not to get too caught up on living this perfect healthy lifestyle. You can treat yourself in many ways, especially if it’s in moderation. It may be a day that you spend just binge-watching Netflix, a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, or buying yourself a fresh bouquet of flowers. Whatever your treat is, you shouldn’t beat yourself up over it. We’re only human after all!

The hardest part about living a healthy lifestyle is getting started. If you don’t feel comfortable jumping in all at once, start by making small changes to your normal routine!
