During my semi-final semester at Curry College in the Fall of 2016, I took a course called Social Psychology. Social Psychology was an informative and challenging course, it was very stressful at times and also included an academic success story for me. The stress came from the very complicated course material and the assignments within the course. However, all of those factors made for a memorable experience that I will remember when I reflect on my college career.

In Social Psychology, my peers and I learned about several concepts of how people interact with each other and how the world in general perceives social norms. On top of what we learned in class, there were also mini-quizzes that the class could choose to take to earn extra points towards our grades. The mini-quizzes pertained to the material learned in that day's class meeting, and I chose to take a few. From my recollection, I passed certain quizzes and failed certain quizzes. I am glad I tried, because I believe it shows I cared about my grade. There were also exams throughout the semester, very hard exams that I struggled with. I did the best I could and had to make some educated guesses.

The highlight of Social Psychology was when I wrote an essay that I earned a 100% on. The feedback from the professor was astoundingly positive to me, he stated that it was "one of the best papers I have read this semester" and that I am "an excellent writer." I will never forget that praise, because that semester was hard for me for personal reasons and to think that I was on my academic A-game for that assignment in spite of my personal challenges was indicative that I can perform appropriately and well under pressure. I will always be grateful to that professor for commending me so highly.

I believe I passed Social Psychology with a C. I would have preferred a B or an A, but as the saying goes, you get what you put in. Even with the passing C, I am still glad I chose to take Social Psychology because even though I majored in Communication, I have an interest in Psychology too. For anyone looking to attend Curry College and chooses to take Social Psychology, you will be challenged, no doubt. However, as long as you pay attention in class meetings and take notes, you should do fine.

Overall, I enjoyed Social Psychology in spite of its difficulty. I was a senior in college when I took it, so the expectations were high in terms of the material, essays and exams. I look back fondly on the essay I earned the highest possible score on and the other lessons I learned about the psychology of the social world. For a psychology major, this course is definitely one to consider and for any other majors, it is a good choice for an elective. I recommend it.
