National Random Acts of Kindness Day is on February 17th. For those of you who don’t know, this day is all about being kind to others by doing random acts of kindness either to one stranger or simply throughout the day.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day is about spreading kindness and love to one another. By participating in this national holiday, you’re influencing others to be kind and to spread kindness. The main goal of this national holiday is to not only spread kindness but to inspire others to also spread kindness. Doing random acts of kindness is a way to show others that there are great people in the world.

I encourage you to participate in this day. It’s important to spread kindness because you never know what can happen. If you influence others to be kind or if you made someone’s day, maybe that will create a chain reaction. Do a small act of kindness on this day by purchasing coffee for the person behind you line. Send thank you cards to your colleagues. Buy flowers for your neighbors or buy toys for little kids. When you spread kindness, you’re influencing others to be kind as well. Furthermore, you might never know if you’re making someone’s day, which is all part of the excitement. Someone could possibly be having a bad day and if you surprise them by paying for their coffee at the drive-through for Starbucks, you could potentially change their whole mood.

Every year, I always participate in this day by purchasing coffee for the person behind me at Starbucks. This year, I plan to buy food for any homeless person I see. I encourage you to do at least one random act of kindness on this day, whether it’s for a complete stranger, a coworker, a boss, or a classmate. It doesn’t have to be a big gesture. It can be something as small as opening the door for someone or holding books for your classmate. Spreading kindness will help others to be kind to everyone else. It’s a chain reaction. We could all use a little more kindness in the world, so I encourage you to spread kindness on this day, and of course, every day.
