The events that happened Sunday night in Las Vegas are nothing short of horrific. A lone gunman shot into a crowd of people enjoying Jason Aldean at the Route 91 Harvest Festival killing at least 59 people and injuring hundreds. The police have identified Stephen Paddock as the shooter. Paddock was a 64-year-old man who died in his hotel room from a self-inflicted gun wound. He was found with at least 10 other rifles in his room, according to The New York Times. This is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S history.

After these tragic events transpired there was, and still is, an outpouring of support and love from many public figures on social media. Instagram posts can be seen from celebrities like Lauren Conrad and Jason Aldean, to name a few. There also has been a lot of activity on Twitter.  President Trump tweeted, “My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!" Other tweets include one from Demi Lovato. She tweeted, “My heart is broken for Las Vegas. Music is a place to find refuge not fear. Praying for the victims and their families."

Social media is a platform that many have used to send their thoughts and prayers. It is also a place where many have re-tweeted, posted and screenshotted the numbers to call to find love ones. The love and support that has come from many is an important reminder that even when horrible, evil acts of violence happen we still stand together.
