On October 1st, there was a mass shooting in Las Vegas during a concert. Because of this tragedy, 58 people were found dead and 489 were found injured.
It’s sad to think that mass shootings happen all the time, but at the same time it’s important that we do our best to spread awareness and be kind to one another. It’s important that we are there for each other. For those of you who have not spoken up about this tragedy or have not spread awareness, now is your chance.
The residents of Las Vegas are still traumatized from this event. They are standing together and being strong for one another. It’s up to us, the rest of the world, to help out as well.
There are so many ways to help and spread awareness. First, there is a “gofundme” page to help the victims of Las Vegas. Millions of people have donated, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t either. You can donate money to help them, whether you’re donating $1, $5, or even $100 – YOU can make a difference. Every cent matters. Click

to donate now!
If you’ve already donated to the gofundme page, or would like another way to donate, you can also “text-to-donate.” Right now, this is only an option for AT&T users. If you have AT&T, you can text “VEGAS” TO 50555 to donate $10 to the University Medical Center Foundation. By donating $10, you are making a difference and you’re helping patients who may not be able to afford treatment.
As of October 10th, Las Vegas does not need blood donations anymore, but you can still donate other important items. If you are around the area, you can donate water, canned goods, or even nonperishable items to the Three Square organization and Catholic Charities.
If you are unable to donate money or other items, then the best thing you can do is to spread awareness. Tweet, facebook message, or make an Instagram post about the “gofundme” page, the “text-to-donate” option, volunteer transportation, and physical donations. By alerting your followers, they’ll be able to alert their followers too. Spreading awareness helps more than you know, so if you’re unable to donate, let your friends, family, and followers know about the different ways to help. Everything counts. YOU can make a difference starting now, so let’s Step Up and help out a community in need.
