Sometimes, in life, you go through obstacles that you do not want others to know about. You put on a fake smile and pretend everything’s alright. Because of this, everybody assumes you are happy and doing well, and they don’t feel the need to check in on you. Because of this, it makes you wonder how many of your loved ones are pretending that everything is alright when it really isn’t? Checking in on your loved ones every once in a while is extremely important, and it will mean a lot to them in the long run.
One of the biggest issues people have nowadays is that they assume their loved ones will always be there and that nothing can happen to them. This leads to people often taking advantage of them and only reaching out when they need something. It’s a bad habit to have, but it is possible to break. The reality is that your loved ones will not always be there and that life does not always go the way you want it to. It is never guaranteed that you will see your loved ones tomorrow.
Many people put up a facade and try to hide what they are going through. In reality, some of them may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues. Because of this, many people do not know how to reach out for help, they are not comfortable doing so, or they think their problems will go away if they sweep them under the rug.
Sometimes, the signs that your loved ones are not okay will not always be obvious. You may not notice they are not okay until they say something out of the ordinary or change their usual behavior. Regardless, it is always good to listen, pay attention, and be aware.
Most people want to be heard, listened to, and acknowledged. With that being said, one small text saying, “Heard your favorite song on the radio today, so I thought of you,” goes a long way. It shows them that you are thinking of them. An “I love you” text will show the other person that you were thinking of them and that you crossed their mind. Even a “thought of you today, hope you’re doing well” text is a great way to tell someone you care about them. Showing appreciation for a person is never annoying. It can brighten up someone’s day, especially if they were not having a good one. Even a Snapchat, if you feel comfortable reaching out that way, can mean a lot to someone.
If you randomly thought of someone, had a dream about them, or your gut feeling is telling you something, reach out! It may seem like a simple text to you, but it will mean more to them than you know. Every single thing you do can make a huge difference for someone, so check in by reaching out to your loved ones.
