Want to make sure your kids keep reading in the summer? We came up with a couple of tricky ways to get them reading with no books involved!
Making dinner? Have them read the recipe to you.
At the grocery store? Have them read the shopping list or product names.
Doing laundry? Ask them to read the detergent instructions or the settings on the machine.
In the car? Write out directions for the ride and have them read them aloud as you drive.
In short, anything that involves instructions, lists, or directions can become a great tool to improve your child's reading skills at any level. Because these exercises are short and connected to a shared activity or task, they're great ways to keep your child reading every day.
