With the spring season here at last, we’re all gearing up for that one time of year that has us scrambling to clean out our closets, put our winter wardrobe aside, and declutter our living spaces so we can have more room to breathe. Yes: spring cleaning. While it sounds like no big deal, spring cleaning can be one of the most hectic things to deal with. From extensive wardrobe changes to cleaning soap scum off the shower tile, it isn't nearly as pleasant as it sounds. But, these 10 Must Know tips are. For bathroom shower curtains, try placing new plastic ones in the washing machine on warm with distilled white vinegar. And for older ones that’ve been through the ringer, try hand washing them under warm water with a microfiber cloth, using either baking soda, vinegar, or a gentle detergent.

For clogged shower heads, simply take a plastic bag filled with distilled white vinegar, fasten it to the shower head with a rubber band, and let it sit for an hour before wiping it clean with a wet cloth.

Moving down to the bathtub, a nice citrus finish will work wonders. After wetting the tub, slice a grapefruit in half, sprinkle it with kosher salt, then scrub the grapefruit around the tub.

For the toilet, just use a bit of dish liquid with a dash of non abrasive cleaner.

For stubborn grout, start by sprinkling baking soda directly onto the grout and be sure to wipe away the excess powder. Once this is done, spritz a bit of white vinegar from a spray bottle onto the powered grout. Let the mixture bubble for while before wiping it away before scrubbing it with an old toothbrush. After that, be sure to vacuum up any leftover powder.

Got mold?  Here’s a way to clean it up the same way you’d clean up cuts and scrapes: mix one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide with one cup of water and then wipe the mixture on the mold to work its magic. After letting it sit for 10 minutes, be sure to scrub the area for any mold or stains that may be lingering.The mold may be gone, but to prevent future buildups, you can spray the surfaces with the new mixture, using only 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda and 2 cups of water.


To eliminate the scent of mildew, simply use your favorite natural face wash. Mix one tablespoon of tea tree oil with one cup of water and pour it into a spray bottle. Then, spray the afflicted area and let it dry. In less than a few days, the smell will go away.

To get your carpet clean, even if you don't have carpet powder, just sprinkle on a bit of baking soda and essential oils. Vacuum it up after 30 minutes.

If you have hardwood floors in your house that require an extra touch of cleanliness, here’s the perfect tip. After vacuuming the floors, fill a bucket with warm water and ¼ cup of white vinegar or all-purpose cleaner. Add a microfiber cloth to the solution and after wringing it out, attach it to a mop handle. Mop the floors to whatever extent necessary.

For this washing machine cleaning solution, make sure to wear a pair of gloves. Mix together one cup of chlorine with two cups of warm water. After that, use it to wipe down the machine door’s seal with a soft cloth. Once the outside is clean, the inside can be taken care of by filling the bleach dispenser and running the machine on a hot water cycle.
