There are so many ways to give back to the community. I really feel that if we are capable, we should give back because you never know when you might be on the other side of things. Everyone has a few extra hours they can give here and there, so why not make them productive instead of sitting around and being bored? If you need help thinking of ways to get involved, here are ten great ideas!

  1. Help at the animal shelter; maybe even foster an animal.

  2. Volunteer as a referee or coach at club sports.

  3. Deliver meals for Meals on Wheels, or for other similar organizations.

  4. Help to pass out water at a run, triathlon, or another sporting event.

  5. Visit a senior center and see how you can help.

  6. Tutor a student who is struggling in a subject.

  7. Spend time picking up trash around the neighborhood or park.

  8. Volunteer at the homeless shelter, especially on a holiday.

  9. Volunteer to be a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister organization.

  10. Offer to help an elderly neighbor with errands or yard work.

There is something out there for everyone to get involved with. They say that if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life. That is also true for volunteering! If you love what you are doing, it will never seem like a chore!
