With so many things going on in the world, it’s important to give back. I always remind myself to give back. When a major tragedy happens, such as a wildfire or a school shooting, I try to put myself in the shoes of the victims. If I had lost a loved one or my home to a fire, I would be grateful for anyone who tried to help me out. There are many people without a home who cannot afford a funeral for their loved ones. I know that if I was in their position, I would want someone to help me out.

I have heard people use the phrase “humanity is dead” many times. I don’t personally believe this because I do believe that there is good in every person. I strongly believe in the phrase “be the change you want to see in the world.” I strongly believe that the world will be a better place in years to come, and I try my best to Step Up for what’s right. Most importantly, I try to give back.

Growing up, my family and I struggled financially, but I always saw my mom giving money to homeless people. When I would ask why, she said it was the right thing to do. She always talked about how fortunate we were to have a roof over our heads, and even though we struggled financially, we are still considered very fortunate. My mom always told me to give money to homeless people if I had any change in my pocket, so I always do my best to give a dollar or two to every homeless person I see. Additionally, if I have the time, I’ll buy them a meal.

Believe it or not, we are all very fortunate. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat, clothes to wear, and an education to keep us informed. It’s important to give back because it’s the right thing to do. If you were in the shoes of someone who is homeless, wouldn’t you want someone to help you out?

To me, being human means being compassionate and generous. I always try to live a life of gratitude and I always remind myself to be grateful. Whenever I hear about upsetting events going on in the world, such as hurricanes destroying homes or families losing loved ones, it honestly breaks my heart. I’m fortunate enough to have never experienced these situations, but that doesn’t mean I want others to have to go through it alone. It’s important to give back because change starts with us. We must show the younger generations that the world isn’t always as bad as it seems and there are good people in the world. In order for us to see change, we have to be the change, and that starts with giving back to those who are less fortunate.

If you’re tired of seeing families without a home, families unable to pay for their funeral services, or even families being torn apart due to natural disasters, then you need to Step Up and give back. Every little bit counts and it all starts with you.
