Our method of dealing with anxiety, doubt, and stress has become such a horrible way of living that we have created terrible habits. This coping method that we all can relate to is eating unhealthy when we are feeling a certain type of emotion, especially an emotion that is uncontrollable. Binge eating, for starters, has become one of the most effective coping methods when dealing with stress or anxiety. In today’s world, we cannot afford to eat unhealthy, but staying healthy has only become harder and harder. So, how can we maintain a healthy body in our binge eating moments? Here are some tasty snacks that are both delicious to eat and beneficial when it comes to reducing your anxiety while maintaining your health.

Avocados are a great after school snack. They contain about 20 different vitamins and minerals, and they are loaded with potassium, which is a vital mineral that keeps your blood pressure low. This is also very helpful for those who want to have perfect skin and a lot of hair growth.

Instead of craving a chip or a cookie, try Swiss chard. This green veggie is like lettuce or kale. The magnesium in Swiss Chard helps to balance our stress hormones. It also helps to prevent cancer, such as colon cancer, and it boosts cognitive development, regulates blood sugar levels, and reduces the risk of diabetes.
Instead of staring down the cupcake on the countertop, try going for a whole wheat pretzel. Whole grain snacks make you feel fuller as a result of the fiber they contain. Whole wheat pretzels contain carbohydrates, which offer an energy boost. This triggers the brain to release a feel-good chemical called serotonin. This is very helpful for the times that you are loaded with schoolwork or have an extremely busy schedule.
Oh how we love ice-cream… but instead of grabbing that huge vanilla ice cream container, why don’t you try some delicious yogurt! This helps with stress, as it makes you release a calming hormone.
Lastly, my top favorite would have to be Chocolate. Research shows that dark chocolate lowers stress levels. It contains sugar and carbohydrates as well, which release mood-improving serotonin. Also, let’s face it… who wouldn’t want to munch on some delicious chocolate in a time of stress?
As you can see, having snack cravings when feeling overwhelmed is not bad. What’s important is knowing what you should eat, because healthy snacks will benefit you in so many ways. Be stress free by munching on a delicious snack.
