Getting Into College Is Easier Than You Think

Although college acceptance rates are decreasing in the most selective schools, it doesn't actually mean that getting into college is getting harder. In fact, it's gotten a lot easier. Here's why.
Reading the news, you would think that getting into a good college gets more difficult every year. If you’re shooting for an Ivy League school, the admission rates are dispiriting; last year, Stanford admitted only 5% of applicants, Harvard and Yale admitted 6%, and Columbia admitted 7%. As Noodle CEO John Katzman explained recently in the [Washington Post][1], however, these numbers do not tell the whole story. In fact, getting into a selective college today is easier than it was 30 years ago. Here’s why:
