Recently, there was a shooting in a small Texas town at a church, and at least 26 people were killed and 20 others were wounded. We are often told that we should “pray for the victims," but this time the shooting was done inside of a church. A lot of people went straight to social media, saying that praying does not work and that prayers aren’t an efficient way to help these victims. We often turn to praying for the victims, but praying just won’t work this time, as the shooting was inside of a church, a place that was supposed to help others feel safe in their prayer.

So, how do we help these victims? One of the best ways to help is to donate. Every penny counts, whether you’re donating $1, $5, $100, or $10,000. Any amount that you donate will add up and it will certainly help in the long run. The two best places to donate to are the Commerce Bank and the First Baptist Church. They are accepting donations and they need every bit that they can get.
Another great fund to donate to is the Holcombe family. In the Holcombe family, eight family members were found dead, as well as an unborn child. The only one to survive was Evelyn Hill, but she was seriously injured. Their family friends were found dead as well. A friend of the family set up a ‘gofundme’ page for the family in hopes to raise $750,000. If you have any spare change lying around, put it in the bank and go donate.
If you are in South Texas, they are looking for blood donations. Anyone who has a 0-positive or 90-negative blood type is encouraged to donate. If you are in South Texas and have this blood type, please consider donating, as many individuals are injured and need blood. You can view this link for more information: southtexasblood.org.
If you cannot donate any money, you can share these links on your social media platforms so that other people know where they can donate. Spread the word around. Praying is great, but these victims need more than prayers. Spread the links and spread the word. Everything counts for these victims. Now what are you waiting for? Let’s go out and help these families.
