About four months ago, I downloaded nine different news apps: Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, BBC News, Fox News, NPR News, USA Today, NBC News and Apple News. Based on my experience with each one, here are the top three I would recommend.
Apple News
Apple News is a great resource for one-stop news. When you set up the app you can select numerous news outlets to be displayed on the home screen. You can allow the app to send you push notifications for each time a selected news outlet pushes a headline. Also, when you open the app, all the top articles from various news outlets are available.
Washington Post
The Washington Post app is my favorite app from an individual news outlet. The app allows you to choose topics, such as world news, national news and sports, which you would like notifications for. I am a D.C. area native and I love getting the local notifications when I am at school, it makes me feel connected to my hometown. There are various versions of the Washington Post app and each one has its own charm.
BBC News
The BBC News app has been the best way for me to stay up to date with international headlines. The app doesn’t send more than two notifications a day unless there is breaking news like the Manchester attack, Grenfell Tower fire or the London attacks. I can personalize the news I would like to read in the app by choosing topics that I would like to stay up to date on.
