Licensed clinical social workers maintain a critical role in the enhancement of life in North Carolina as they support communities and individuals to discover answers to life’s challenges. Social Workers help individuals, children or families if they are having problems being productive and stable in their own lives. A career as a social worker can be quite fulfilling.

Becoming a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina requires certain education levels, hours of clinical service, and possibly other requirements.

When considering a career as a social worker, and evaluating potential educational programs, you should enroll at a CSWE accredited program. Many states require candidates have degrees from CSWE accredited programs.

For example, Tulane University Online Masters of Social Work is CSWE accredited. It is also highly-ranked by US News & World Reports. The GRE is not required to apply to the online MSW program at Tulane. A Bachelor’s degree is required. Contact a representative at Tulane University about their online Master of Social Work program.

The average North Carolina social worker salary is $57,000. This number is 5% lower than the national average for similar social worker jobs. For those individuals who’ve gone on to obtain a master’s degree in social work, the average salary is $64,022. The job growth rate for social workers in North Carolina is expected to grow by 15%.

As of February 2018, there are an estimated 1,352 open positions in North Carolina for social workers. In fact, the following health centers are currently recruiting to hire social workers, with a preference for those with a master’s degree, or concurrently enrolled in a master’s program.
